It serves to ensure that the medicines comply with all manufacture-related requirements. Tamro's pharmaceutical factory operations strictly comply with the requirements of the GMP regulation.

The supervisory authority Fimea oversees the operations of pharmaceutical wholesalers. For food supplements, the control is carried out by the Finnish Food Authority. When it comes to the storage and distribution of pharmaceuticals, audits are also carried out by pharmaceutical companies.

The purpose of the medicines verification system is to protect patients from falsified medicines. The system applies to the entire pharmaceutical distribution chain, from the medicine manufacturer to the wholesaler and pharmacy. Tamro complies with the legislation on medicines verification and, as a pharmaceutical wholesaler, is for its part responsible for the implementation of pharmaceutical safety in Finland.

Medicines verification is regulated at the EU level by the Falsified Medicines Directiveand in the regulation that sets out the details of the safety features.
