Kai Kaasalainen, CEO of Tamro Finland, has been appointed to the Board of the European Healthcare Distribution Association (GIRP). The appointment was confirmed at the General Assembly held on 18 May 2025 in Dubrovnik.
GIRP represents full-service pharmaceutical wholesalers across Europe, advocating for a safe, efficient, and equitable medicines distribution system at the EU level. The association is currently in the process of renewing its strategy. In a time of rapid regulatory and structural changes across Europe, active engagement is more important than ever—particularly on issues such as medicines availability, supply chain resilience, and Public Service Obligation (PSO) requirements.
Kai Kaasalainen brings over 19 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, having held various leadership positions at Tamro since 2006. His contribution to the GIRP Board builds on deep expertise in pharmaceutical distribution, dose dispensing, home care technologies, and real-world evidence initiatives. He also adds perspective from his focus areas in strategic foresight, the application of artificial intelligence across the pharmaceutical value chain, and forward-looking leadership in the industry.
Pharmaceutical wholesale plays a critical role in ensuring continuity, resilience, and accessibility in healthcare across Europe. Strengthening this foundation requires expert collaboration—something GIRP continues to enable as the united voice of the sector.
