Sakset ja Kekkonen

In the autumn of 1971, a new operations centre was completed in Konala, Helsinki. Earlier that year, Tampereen Rohdos and Aurum-Pharmakon had merged, forming a new company under the name Oy Tamro Ab. The new centre brought former Rohdos and Aurum employees together under one roof.

In December, the inauguration was celebrated in the mezzanine of the warehouse in grand style: the President of the Republic, Urho Kekkonen, honoured the occasion with his presence and cut the blue-and-white ribbon. Immediately afterwards, a new conveyor system was set in motion.

Those very scissors are still preserved at Tamro’s headquarters, Tamrotalo.

Tamro is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year. Throughout the year, we will share stories from Tamro’s rich history and introduce the dedicated teams who work with determination, expertise, and heart.
