On 19 September 1991, Tamro celebrated the grand opening of its new headquarters, Tamrotalo, in Koivuvaara, Vantaa. During the 1980s, the company had outgrown its premises in Konala, Helsinki, and suitable space for expansion proved difficult to find within the city. Vantaa seized the opportunity, swiftly facilitating land acquisition and zoning – and so, Tamro found a new home.
The inauguration of Tamrotalo was a festive occasion, bringing together 616 invited guests and over 500 Tamro employees. The celebration featured an impressive spread: 1,000 kilograms of food, more than 800 litres of beverages, and cakes shaped like Tamro’s logo at the time – round, white, and green.
Guests had the opportunity to explore the building’s ten floors, including the logistics centre and office hotel facilities. A highlight of the day was the unveiling of Peilaaja, a bronze sculpture by Tapio Junno, which still stands proudly in the entrance lobby of Tamrotalo.
Tamro is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year. Throughout the year, we will share stories from Tamro’s rich history and introduce the dedicated teams who work with determination, expertise, and heart.
