Tamro's headquarters were located in Tampere until the early 1970s. The operations began in 1895 at Kauppakatu 16, and later moved to the Commerce building (Hämeenkatu 17) by the market square. Both locations quickly became cramped as the business continuously expanded. Towards the end, due to the lack of space in the Commerce building, deliveries destined for pharmacies had to be packed in a draughty stairwell.
In 1910, Tampereen Rohdoskauppa's wholesale operations, laboratory and factory moved to the premises of an old brewery at Pinninkatu 21. The operations continued there for 63 years until 1973, when Tamro's headquarters were relocated to Helsinki. Since 1991, Tamro's headquarters, known as Tamrotalo, have been situated in Koivuvaara, Vantaa.
Tamro is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year. Throughout the year, we will share stories from Tamro’s rich history and introduce the dedicated teams who work with determination, expertise, and heart.
